Anna Maria is an HCPC registered, qualified physiotherapist with over 14 years of experience and is our Knee Rehabilitation Specialist at the clinic. Following her undergraduate training, Anna Maria obtained a Masters Degree in advanced musculoskeletal physiotherapy from Kings College London and more recently a Doctoral degree in rehabilitation, from Queen Margaret University, Edinburgh. This most recent degree (PhD) has seen Anna Maria doing research on rehabilitation with various universities including the University of Edinburgh.
Anna Maria is also a qualified member of the manual association of physiotherapists (MACP) and the chartered society of physiotherapist (CSP). After spending most of her career working with the NHS and private sector in Malta and London, she has spent the past four years working at the clinic and in the private sector in Edinburgh. She has a vast amount of experience in treating an array of conditions from spinal injuries such as neck and back pain to sport/work related injuries. She has a special interest in the knee following her doctoral degree specialisation that focused on pre-surgery rehabilitation and osteoarthritis of the knee.
Anna Maria is also a qualified APPI Pilates instructor and has been teaching clients on a one to one or class setting for the past 8 years. Together with her manual therapy background, she combines Pilates into her practice and enjoys seeing the benefits of it in clients that have started out with severe pain due to an injury to now fully recovered and back to recreational sports they thoroughly enjoy!
